Jeffreys Bay wind plant

The Jeffreys Bay wind project was submitted to the South African Government’s Renewable Energy Procurement Programme as part of a consortium (see below).  The project was awarded preferred bidder status by the Department under the first round of programme and reached commercial operation on 15 May 2014.

The Jeffreys Bay wind farm is one of the first and largest wind farms in South Africa and will assist in meeting the every-increasing demand for electricity in South Africa.   At the peak of construction, employment surged to some 650 on site. The wind farm will generate enough electricity to power over 110,000 typical South African households.
