The Mainstream solar team understand the complex process of developing a solar project, and can quickly recognise the risks associated with a project and take steps to mitigate them. Their expertise ensure all development aspects are effectively managed.
Mainstream has the capabilities to take a project through all four stages of developing a typical solar project; from the feasibility stage through, development, construction and operation of the solar project and finally ensuring optimal output is achieved.
Mainstream has a track record in developing solar projects both on time and on budget. Its projects in South Africa, De Aar (50MW) and Droogfontein (50MW) PV projects commenced during 2009. Both projects where awarded 20-year power purchase agreements under the first round of the South African Government’s Renewable Energy Procurement Programme in December 2011. Both projects achieved financial close in November 2012 with construction commencing shortly thereafter. The projects reached commercial operation date mid-2014.
